By conducting thorough compliance inspections and medical records audits at your institution, you will help prepare your animal care and use program for IACUC semi-annual inspections, USDA inspections, AAALAC site visits, and visits from clients (for Contract Research Organizations).  In the presentation we will discuss using checklists and prioritizing, appropriate records to review, and practical ideas for inspecting:
  • animal housing rooms,
  • procedure rooms,
  • surgery areas,
  • behavioral testing areas,
  • storage rooms, and
  • cage wash area
In addition, we will discuss methods to conduct effective USDA-covered species medical record audits by:
  • comparing written records to the protocol, and
  • knowing key items to look for in each medical record.
This webinar will be invaluable to institutions who want to enhance their compliance or post-approval monitoring program, or who need some practical advice for preparing for USDA inspections and preventing citations.  It is intended to help IACUC members, post-approval monitoring staff, veterinary and husbandry staff, and research compliance officers conduct efficient and thorough inspections of their own animal facilities, animal use areas, and animal medical records.  Cost is $75 per institution and includes the live webinar and PDF of the slides. The 8th Edition of the Guide: Highlights, Key Points and Implications for Animal Care and Use Programs

Picture
The Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals is the Bible for the animal research community.  This set of guidelines, recommendations and requirements must be used by all institutions conducting research with vertebrate animals that receive federal funding, or are accredited by AAALAC.  The 8th edition was released in January 2011, and it contains numerous updates and changes (and is about twice the length) from the previous edition published back in 1996.

This webinar highlights the changes in the 8th edition of the Guide that are most significant to laboratory animal care and use programs. In this one-hour presentation, you will learn the key points and significant changes, along with implications for your animal care and use program, all organized by chapter and page number.  Along with the the 60-minute webinar, you will receive a PDF of the slides (which includes additional slides cut out of the presentation) and a list of all "must" statements in the Guide.

The Guide webinar is now available as an Adobe Connect webinar recording, which you can purchase access to and watch at any time on your computer.  Cost for this on-demand service is $100 per institution.  Please email info(at)acupconsulting.com
